The Developmental Enneagram for Couples: Transforming Communication and Turning Conflict into Growth
What you will learn in this session:
*How couples move through developmental stages that mirror early human growth—and the key indicators that a relationship may be developmentally stalled.
*The essential key to breaking negative communication cycles at their root: differentiation—what it is, why it matters, and how to cultivate it for lasting relational transformation.
*How each Enneagram type unconsciously disrupts connection, communication, and conflict resolution by struggling with differentiation—and the developmental practices that promote growth and healthier relational patterns.

Michelle Joy is a couples therapist, coach, certified Enneagram Teacher through the Narrative Tradition, and founder of Global Joy Institute.
She has been specializing in helping couples’ relationships for nearly as long as she has been studying the Enneagram – almost 25 years.
Michelle's approach, called “The Developmental Enneagram for Couples.” uses Enneagram-informed developmental methods to help couples transform communication, conflict resolution, and connection.
Michelle has had the honor of presenting her work at several IEA conferences, IEA webinar training, podcasts, The Enneagram Monthly Newsletter, and has been hired by training professionals on how to help more couples.
Long before her career of helping couples, she held positions at various start-ups and corporations, and has since been invited to deliver Enneagram training to many agencies as well as Fortune 500 businesses in Silicon Valley, CA, over the last two decades.
Michelle founded Global Joy Institute, designed to bring joy to people around the world through various programs on living our highest and best life, as well as her philanthropic initiative “Global Joy Giving,” which is currently based in Uganda. She launched a Life Purpose Summit, which aired in March 2025.
